The Alfa Romeo Tonale is positioned as a premium European family SUV, serving as an alternative to competitors such as the BMW X1. While the vehicle shares certain components with the Jeep Compass, it maintains a distinctively Italian design. Recent updates to the model include an aggressive design refresh featuring a redesigned front bumper, a modified Trilobe grille, and new wheel options. Technical enhancements include an upgraded hybrid powertrain delivering 175 horsepower, alongside engine configurations such as a 1.5-liter four-cylinder and a 1.6-liter diesel. Interior improvements include ergonomic changes like a compact rotary gear selector and the addition of wireless phone charging. In the Japanese market, Stellantis Japan has introduced a limited-edition version called the Tonale Ibrida Sport Speciale. Only 60 units are available, priced at 6.88 million yen. Based on the Tonale Ibrida Veloce, this edition features silver accents on black side skirts and rear bumpers, black Brembo brake calipers, and exclusive badging. The limited run consists of 45 units in Brela Red and 15 in Alfa White. The interior is upgraded with Alcantara and natural leather seats featuring white stitching, complemented by a multi-color ambient lighting system inspired by the brand’s ‘Biscione’ symbol. To commemorate the launch, Alfa Romeo hosted a ‘Una Notte Speciale’ event in Shibuya, Tokyo, featuring a discussion with filmmaker Takumi Saitoh regarding the ‘aesthetics of contradiction’ and the connection between humans and driving.
