Algerian athletes have demonstrated strong performances during recent Diamond League athletics meetings in Switzerland. At the Lausanne meeting, Yasser Triki and Djamel Sedjati both secured second-place finishes. Triki narrowly missed a victory in the triple jump, while Sedjati recorded his best time of the season in the 800 meters. In the women’s 3,000m steeplechase, Maroua Bouzayani finished third, maintaining her lead in the Diamond League general standings. Following these results, Djamel Sedjati and Slimane Moula achieved a double podium at the Diamond League in Zurich. Sedjati finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:41.83, which officially secured his qualification for the 2027 World Athletics Championships in Beijing. Moula completed the podium in third place. At the Diamond League meeting in Brussels, Djamel Sedjati continued his streak by securing second place in the 800-meter race with a time of 1:42.71. This result marks Sedjati’s “third consecutive second-place finish in the Diamond League since his return to competition,” trailing winner Emmanuel Wanyonyi.
