While Santos framed these comments as political critiques regarding the senator’s associates, the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) had previously ordered the removal of similar claims, noting a lack of “concrete data, formal investigation, or legal imputation” linking him to the criminal organization. Further allegations emerged via the YouTube series ‘Revelando’ on the Calma Urgente channel. The program, presented by comedian Fábio Porchat, alleged the existence of a network of ‘laranjas’—individuals used to conceal asset ownership—connected to the senator. The content suggested indirect links to various scandals involving offshore accounts and potential fraud, though these including connections to the INSS and Banco Master. These claims remain unjudged by the courts. Additionally, musical artist MC Cabelinho used the same platform to critique the senator’s professional trajectory. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has also joined the criticism, questioning how the senator could afford a R$ 10 million property in cash on a public salary, stating, “If you find someone rich with a public salary, he is a thief.” Lula further referred to the senator as a “militiaman,” alleging connections to controversial figures, including individuals linked to the death of former councilwoman Marielle Franco. These remarks follow claims by footballer Richarlison that the senator collaborated with lawyer Willer Tomaz to seize property in Angra dos Reis.
