South Korean biotechnology firm Alteogen has expanded its Hybrozyme platform through significant licensing agreements. In August 2026, the company secured an exclusive licensing deal valued at up to $365 million with a global pharmaceutical firm to develop and commercialize subcutaneous formulations of biologic drugs using its ALT-B4 technology. Following this, Alteogen announced it would receive a $25 million milestone payment from MSD. This payment was triggered by global sales of Keytruda SC, which utilizes Alteogen’s human hyaluronidase technology. This milestone represents the first achievement of sales-based milestones under a $1 billion agreement between the two companies, marking Alteogen’s transition from development-stage revenue to commercial revenue generation. In September 2026, Alteogen signed an option and license agreement with Novartis AG to develop and commercialize subcutaneous formulations using ALT-B4. Under this contract, Alteogen is eligible to receive up to $3.223 billion if all options are exercised and all development and commercialization milestones are met. The agreement includes royalties based on net sales and grants Novartis exclusive rights to apply the technology to multiple products. This deal marks Alteogen’s fourth ALT-B4 licensing agreement of the year.
