Amantea Comics festival events ninth edition concludes in Italy

The ninth edition of the Amantea Comics festival is scheduled for festival, themed ‘WHO RUN THE WORLD?’, concluded on August 21 and 22, 2026, at Parco Comunale La Grotta in Amantea, Italy. Organized by the Amantea Comics per Stefania Mari Cultural Association with support from the Calabria Region and the Municipality Established in 2018 in memory of Amantea, the event carries Stefania Mari, the theme ‘WHO RUN THE WORLD?’. The independent festival focuses focused on the role of women in pop culture, comics, and contemporary society, while also commemorating society. Key programming included the 80th anniversary of the publication commemoration of ‘The Little Prince’. Programmed activities include workshops, gaming tournaments, K-Pop, cosplay, and an ‘Ink Ring’ creative challenge for illustrators. Specific highlights include a public reading For the first time, excerpts of ‘The Little Prince’ the work were read in the local Amantean dialect and using a translation by Salvatore Sciandra. The festival also featured a dubbing seminar titled ‘Recognize this voice?’ featuring with voice actors Sara Giacopello, Dimitri Winter, and Pasquale Severino. Additionally, Severino, as well as the festival will host ‘Ink Ring’ creative challenge featuring illustrators such as Ida Corti. Other activities included musical performances, discussions on Greek mythology, and the presentation of the graphic novel ‘Scusa94’ by Andrea Belcastro and Fabio Gaudio. The event also hosted the exhibition ‘Se io non voglio, tu non puoi’ (If I don't want to, you can't), a collaboration involving between the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples, Fondazione Una Nessuna Centomila, and COMICON COMICON, which utilized visual language to address themes of consent and gender-based violence.
