American Express Membership Rewards points provide varying values based on redemption methods and promotional offers. While direct redemptions for Amazon purchases typically yield approximately 0.7 cents per point, specific targeted offers can offers—such as redeeming 3,571 points for a $25 Amazon purchase with 1,250 bonus points back—can increase this value to over 1.08 cents per point. In the Australian market, the utility of 100,000 points is largely determined by transfer rates to airline partners. Following December 2025 repricing updates, the value is influenced by the specific Membership Rewards tier held by the user, such as the Ascent Premium tier available to Platinum and Centurion cardholders which allows transfers to Qantas Frequent Flyer. In the United States, promotional offers include earning up to 4,500 bonus points on Amazon.com purchases through various spending tiers, available through December 5, 2026. Additionally, transfer Transfer bonuses for airline loyalty programs are available through October 31, 2026, featuring a 20% bonus for Aeroméxico miles and a 25% bonus for Flying Blue miles. A targeted offer for The Leading Hotels of the World allows cardholders to earn 15,000 points after spending a minimum of $700 on room rates and charges at participating properties, valid through December 31, 2026. American Express has also updated its program regarding how points are handled for newly opened cards. The automatic pooling feature, which previously added points from new cards to a central balance, feature has been removed for new accounts. Instead, opening a new product will result results in a separate rewards account linked specifically to that product. While cardmembers can account. Cardmembers must now manually consolidate points via the website, app, or phone, there or select the option to link during the application flow. There is a risk of point forfeiture if a user closes a card without first linking the accounts. An exception exists for certain cardholders, such as those with a New York billing address, who are granted a 90-day redemption window under state law.
