Anbernic has announced and unveiled the RG DDS (Dream Dual-Screen), a clamshell handheld gaming console designed as a tribute to the Nintendo 3DS. While the device does not feature 3D capabilities, it utilizes two high-resolution IPS displays: a 4.7-inch top screen (1200x700 or 1200x720) and a 4-inch bottom touchscreen (960x720). Both screens provide 500 nits of brightness and 300 PPI, supporting 3x integer scaling for enhanced visual clarity. The hardware is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 octa-core processor with an Adreno A22 GPU, supported by an integrated active cooling fan and a 6000 mAh battery. Control features include a D-pad, face buttons, two analog sticks, a vibration motor, and a retractable stylus. The console will be available in black, blue, and white colors. Further details regarding pricing and pre-orders have been released. The device is positioned as a high-performance emulator capable of running demanding titles, including those from the Xbox 360 and PS3 eras. It will run on Android 16 and includes WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4. The 8GB RAM/128GB storage model is priced at approximately $299.99, while the 12GB RAM/256GB storage variant is set at $349.99. Pre-orders are scheduled to begin on October 16, with the first batch of shipments expected around December 10.
