Interest in Ancient Greek culture and history manifests through both modern spiritual practices and archaeological tourism.

In Brazil, a resurgence of interest in Hellenic reconstructionism has led to the founding of Helenos, the country’s first and largest organization dedicated to adapting ancient Greek religious traditions to modern life. This movement involves the worship of deities such as Zeus and Athena and is supported by translated texts to establish a Portuguese-language foundation for the practice. This cultural fascination is also linked to contemporary media, such as Christopher Nolan’s film ‘The Odyssey’, and the enduring literary impact of Homer’s epic poetry.

Simultaneously, Greece continues to offer diverse historical experiences through its archaeological sites. In Athens, tourism focuses on the Acropolis, the Parthenon, and the Ancient Agora, alongside culinary and architectural tours. On the island of Santorini, the Bronze Age metropolis of Akrotiri remains a significant site, preserved by volcanic ash from a 16th-century B.C. eruption. Unlike Pompeii, the site contains well-preserved frescoes and pottery but no human remains, suggesting a possible evacuation by its residents.
