The Junta de AndalucĂa has initiated a series of technological and structural reforms aimed at modernizing the Andalusian Health Service (SAS). In late September, the regional government announced a 3 million euro investment to provide 850 high-tech tablets to extra-hospital emergency and urgency services. This rollout, scheduled in two phases, is intended to grant medical teams immediate access to Digital Clinical History in Mobility (HCDM) to improve field patient care. Following this, the regional government announced a broader modernization of the SAS. This reform includes a digital transformation involving over 400 digital projects and the introduction of the Law of Guarantee of the Public Health System of Andalusia. The new legislation aims to preserve the public health model, protect healthcare workers, improve accessibility, and integrate primary and hospital care into a coordinated network. A new committee will be established to oversee evaluation, innovation, and operational reform. As of October 2026, the modernization efforts continue alongside expanded clinical and preventative initiatives. In oncology, the region reported a record 421,000 mammographies performed last year, supported by a 101 million euro investment to enhance early detection through technologies such as three-dimensional tomosynthesis imaging. Furthermore, the government has prioritized immunization campaigns, specifically targeting respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). With an allocation of 15.2 million euros, the campaign has seen 16,941 infants under six months receive nirsevimab medication in the first ten days, marking a 14.5% increase compared to the same period in the previous campaign. In mid-October, the government announced the creation of its first clinical research network in Primary Care, supported by an initial 300,000 euro investment to connect scientific activity within primary care centers.
