Anderlecht vs advances, Hammarby Europa drops to Conference League tie

RSC Anderlecht upgraded Lotto Park with a new hybrid surface, drainage and heating before the Europa League second‑qualifying‑round tie with Sweden’s Hammarby. Six debutants – Danylo Sikan, Giulian Biancone, Léo Pétrot, Lukas Ambros, Joshua Nga Kana and Jayden Onia Seke – featured in the first‑leg match, which was played in Stockholm. Sikan opened the scoring from a free‑kick in the 5th minute, but the Belgian side were reduced to ten men when midfielder Nathan Saliba received a second yellow in the 78th minute, a decision that sparked debate. Hammarby equalised through substitute Frank Junior Adjei in the 89th minute, ending the leg 1‑1. New Anderlecht coach Vítor Bruno expressed disappointment at losing the lead while praising the squad’s energy, and noted that bench players such as Mario Stroeykens, Tristan Degreefen and Adriano Bertaccini must improve to earn minutes. In the second leg, Hammarby took an early 1‑0 lead, but Anderlecht responded with goals from Sikan, Mihajlo Cvetković and Tristan Degreef to win 3‑1 on the night and 4‑2 on aggregate. The victory advances Anderlecht to the next qualifying round, while Hammarby is eliminated from the Europa League and moves into the UEFA Conference League to third qualifying round, where they will face Polish side Raków Częstochowa. The outcome was confirmed on 30 July 2026 following the tie’s conclusion.
