Serbian folk legend Andrija Bajič died on 7 July 2026 at age 89. His widow, singer Mala Cana, has claimed a lifelong support pact entitles her to a weekend house, a claim contested by Bajič’s three daughters. Cana has also stated she intends to remain single for the rest of her life. A commemorative event on 10 July at Belgrade’s MTS Hall erupted when Cana accused organizers of omitting family photos. The funeral on 16 July at the New Cemetery’s Avenue of Distinguished Citizens drew many entertainers but triggered industry clashes: Hasan Dudić confronted Atina Ferari over her arrival style, and Cana released a recording accusing Era Ojdanić of exploiting the death. Cana’s eulogy included the phrase “Čekaj me” (“Wait for me”). Following the funeral, Cana made frequent grave visits, including an emotional Instagram tribute after panicking at the sight of fresh flowers on Bajič’s grave, which is shared with artist Olivera Katarina. On 25 July, tensions escalated when Bajič’s daughters removed Cana’s belongings from the family home in Voždovac and placed them on the street; police documented the incident after Cana called them.
