Domestic celebrations focused on Neto’s political vision of national sovereignty, social justice, and the unification of liberation movements. The commemorations included reflections from his sister, Ruth Neto, regarding his role in the struggle for independence. Beyond Angola, diplomatic missions abroad organized events to honor the statesman. In Hungary, the Angolan Embassy hosted an international futsal tournament involving teams from several nations to promote unity and friendship. In Serbia, activities included political and cultural discussions regarding Neto’s strategic role in the liberation struggle, the laying of a wreath at his statue, and the donation of Angolan cultural handicrafts to the Museum of African Art in Belgrade.
