Animal cruelty arrest and blackmail allegations in Charlotte County, Florida
Malia Elizabeth Nummerdor, 38, was arrested in Charlotte County, Florida, following allegations of sexual contact with the family dog. dog, Ranger. The investigation was initiated began after her husband, Erik Nummerdor, reviewed home surveillance footage that he had originally installed to investigate the theft of money from a household coin jar. During questioning, Nummerdor acknowledged being the individual in the footage but denied the sexual contact allegations, stating she was “just petting the dog.” While investigators noted her explanations were inconsistent with the recorded footage, Nummerdor was released on bail. Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Prummell described the alleged behavior as “disgusting,” stating that “no animal should be subjected to such treatment.” The legal situation has since expanded to include Erik Nummerdor. Malia Nummerdor alleges that the recordings were made without her knowledge and that Erik had used them for years to threaten and blackmail her. Legal experts have noted that under Florida law, the intentional recording or possession of certain obscene materials involving prohibited sexual activities with animals can constitute third-degree felonies. A court hearing is scheduled for October 19. In the wake of response to the arrest, a $30,000 fundraising campaign was launched by friends on the SupportNow platform to cover legal defense costs and support the family, asserting that the charges are unfounded.
