Antalya municipal corruption investigations

Overview

Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and its subsidiaries, including ANSET, ALDAŞ, and ASAT, have been the subject of extensive corruption investigations covering the period between 2019 and 2025.

In one legal proceeding, an indictment involving 55 defendants was accepted by the Antalya 4th High Criminal Court. Prosecutors allege that bribery, tender fraud, and money laundering occurred regarding service procurement tenders. The investigation, which utilized bank records and expert reports, focuses on expenditures for festivals and promotional services. Mayor Muhittin Böcek, who was removed from office and detained, faces requested prison sentences between 25 and 69 years.

A separate trial involving 21 defendants commenced at the Antalya 3rd High Criminal Court regarding alleged financial irregularities within ALDAŞ and ASAT. The indictment alleges public losses totaling 399,507,249 Turkish Liras, including the use of company budgets for personal travel, payment of salaries to inactive individuals, and unauthorized markups on invoices. During his defense, Muhittin Böcek denied the charges, maintaining that all transactions were legal and that certain practices were inherited from previous administrations.
