Various organizations operating in Antarctica have announced staffing and recruitment initiatives for upcoming seasons. In September 2026, the Australian Antarctic Program initiated a recruitment drive for Information Technology Officers to support scientific operations at the Casey and Davis stations. These roles focus on maintaining critical IT infrastructure and telecommunications to ensure connectivity for staff in isolated environments. By October 2026, the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust (UKAHT) announced its team for the 2026–2027 season at Port Lockroy. The UKAHT is recruiting personnel for a five-to-six-month mission to Goudier Island. Selected staff will be responsible for managing the Penguin Post Office, museum operations, and a souvenir shop for cruise ship tourists. Additional duties for the UKAHT mission include the maintenance of 80-year-old historic buildings, which require repairs due to environmental changes such as increased rainfall and snow accumulation. The crew will also conduct scientific monitoring of the local Gentoo penguin colony, consisting of over 1,000 birds, to record population and environmental data. Recruited staff will receive a monthly salary between 1,700 and 2,500 euros, with accommodation, food, and extreme weather equipment provided. This mission is part of a three-year program to preserve the historic base, which was originally established as a British military station in 1944.
