Antena 3 and the broader Atresmedia group are implementing significant programming and talent updates across Antena 3, LaSexta, and atresplayer for the upcoming television season. Journalist Cristina Pardo is launching ‘La Mesa’, a new weekly live prime-time program on Antena 3. Scheduled for Wednesday nights at 23:00 following ‘El Hormiguero’, the show aims to blend news, analysis, interviews, and entertainment while avoiding political polarization. Pardo stated, “I want to tell the news without making it seem like the end of the world.” The format uses a central table to facilitate discussions across four thematic segments, featuring recognizable but unconventional guests. Pardo has noted that the live execution of the show has exceeded her initial expectations, particularly regarding the chemistry between guests. In a recent appearance on the program ‘La Mesa para hablar’, Pardo discussed her professional experiences alongside Ivana Rodríguez. During the segment, Rodríguez addressed the psychological impact of media rumors and the challenges of maintaining a professional identity while living in the public eye. Other network updates include the fifth season of the news magazine ‘Y ahora Sonsoles’, featuring Samantha Vallejo-Nágera in a new gastronomy section. The period drama ‘Las hijas de la criada’, based on the novel by Sonsoles Ónega, will move to a prime-time slot. Additionally, ‘Espejo público’ is expanding its political analysis team with the addition of Rafael Martínez-Almeida and journalist Marta Gómez Montero, who joins from TVE. On LaSexta, the program ‘El Objetivo’ with Ana Pastor will shift to a daily format from Monday to Thursday to provide intensive coverage of the migration crisis in Ceuta. Broader shifts in the Spanish audiovisual landscape show production decentralizing from Madrid and Barcelona, with the Canary Islands emerging as a major hub, hosting 180 productions in 2025 and generating 432 million euros. In response to the migration crisis in Ceuta, Atresmedia is deploying special daily editions of ‘El Objetivo’ and sending presenters such as Susanna Griso to the region. Competitor Mediaset is also increasing its presence in Ceuta with journalists like Carlos Franganillo. Further personnel changes include Diego Arce succeeding his father, Roberto Arce, at Noticias Cuatro. hub.
