FC Barcelona completed the signing of English attacker Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United for a fee of 70 million euros, with potential bonuses of 10 million euros. The deal, managed by sporting director Deco and approved by manager Hansi Flick, resulted in a contract running until 2031. Following his arrival, Gordon established himself as a key player, recording five assists in six matches. To integrate into the club’s culture, the 25-year-old has been taking Catalan language lessons. Despite facing recent competition for his position from Karim Adeyemi and scrutiny from Spanish media regarding his form, Gordon has continued to integrate into the squad. Club officials and coaching staff remain highly satisfied with his impact, noting that Flick specifically targeted him for his explosive pace and direct running style. It has been revealed that Barcelona prioritized Gordon over a potential purchase of Marcus Rashford from Manchester United following a previous loan. Gordon has since commented that his move to Barcelona has allowed his ‘football intelligence’ to be better recognized. He noted that while his speed and pressing were valued in the Premier League, the Barcelona style highlights his technical quality, comparing his transition to Harry Kane’s move to Bayern Munich. ~~He expressed a desire~~ His club form has translated to ~~experience~~ the ~~highest level of football outside of England to demonstrate a broader range of abilities.
