Anthropic confirmed the incident on its status page, noting “elevated errors on requests to Claude Mythos 5, Claude Fable 5, Claude Opus 5, and Claude Opus 4.8.” While reports on Downdetector indicated a spike in connectivity issues, Anthropic stated that error rates began to stabilize on certain models, such as Opus 5 and Fable 5, as engineers worked toward a full resolution. The company has not yet released a specific cause for the outage. On 3 September 2026, a broader wave of technical difficulties impacted the AI sector.
