Reports and investigations have highlighted widespread antisemitic incidents within various United States school districts. In August 2026, the United Jewish Teachers released a report documenting at least 250 antisemitic and anti-Israel incidents in New York City public schools occurring since October 7, 2023. The report noted that 64.8% of these cases involved direct acts such as harassment, vandalism, and verbal threats, with Brooklyn recording the highest frequency of incidents. Concurrently, federal and local investigations have expanded to other regions. In Arlington, Virginia, investigators found reasonable cause to believe school officials were “deliberately indifferent” to a hostile environment at Yorktown High School involving Holocaust-related slurs and threats. The U.S. Department of Education has also opened investigations into Baltimore City Public Schools, schools in Bay County, Florida, and New York City. Additional legal actions, including Justice Department settlements and lawsuits, have been reported in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Jersey regarding school responses to harassment. Further scrutiny has shifted toward institutional structures within the education system. An Anti-Defamation League (ADL) report released in late August 2026 documented what it described as systemic antisemitism and institutional failure within U.S. teachers unions. The study found that approximately 74% of Jewish teachers feel the need to self-censor within union spaces, and 70% fear professional or reputational consequences for vocalizing concerns regarding the treatment of Jews. The report also noted that 44% of respondents stated that speakers who justify violence against Jews or Israel were invited to union events.
