The Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa) has issued multiple recall orders for various dietary supplements and health products due to regulatory and safety concerns. In mid-September, Anvisa prohibited the sale, manufacture, and distribution of NotShake Protein beverages produced by NotCo Brasil, citing failures to notify the agency of their status as dietary supplements, insufficient shelf-life studies, improper “zero lactose” claims, and the use of concentrated cabbage juice without meeting safety requirements. During the same period, the agency also recalled Aloe Care Cranberry Flavored Aloe Vera Gel by Biodis Industrial Ltda. due to a lack of safety evaluation for oral consumption and unauthorized therapeutic claims. In October, Anvisa expanded its regulatory actions by ordering a recall of all batches of the supplement Peptistrong, produced by Manipulação Stevia Ltda. (Biostevi Pharma). The agency suspended the product’s manufacturing and sale because the primary ingredient, hydrolyzed fava protein, was being marketed without the mandatory safety assessment. Anvisa noted this was a precautionary measure and did not confirm that consumption had caused health damage. By October 2026, Anvisa maintained its stance on Peptistrong, mandating the recall of all batches and suspending the production, sale, distribution, and advertising of the supplement because the hydrolyzed fava protein had not undergone required safety and toxicity evaluations for food use.
