Apple CEO transition 2026
Entities: Apple Inc. · Tim Cook · John Ternus · Formula 1 · Apple TV
Overview
In late July 2026 Apple announced that senior vice‑president John Ternus would succeed longtime chief executive Tim Cook. Ternus, a hardware‑engineering veteran, said his priority would be to strengthen Apple TV’s original‑content offerings and deepen entertainment partnerships such as the recent Formula 1 deal, while maintaining the company’s massive profit base.
A few days later Cook delivered his final earnings briefing, confirming he would step down on 1 September and move to the role of executive chairman. He highlighted continued growth in iPhone sales, rising memory‑chip costs, the rollout of Apple Intelligence and the new Apple Upgrade program, and expressed confidence in Ternus’s ability to lead Apple forward.
