Apple has officially confirmed a hardware event titled ‘Welcome home’ scheduled for October 13, 2026, in New York. The presentation is expected to focus heavily on the company’s smart home ecosystem, marking a significant expansion beyond the HomePod and Apple TV. The centerpiece of the event is anticipated to be a new smart home hub, potentially named HomeView. This device is rumored to feature a 6-inch square touchscreen and will be powered by the A18 chip to support Apple Intelligence and enhanced Siri AI capabilities. The tabletop model is expected to feature a design reminiscent of the iMac G4, utilizing a metal arm and base, while a wall-mountable variant is also anticipated. To support this ecosystem, the hub may run a new operating system, potentially called ‘homeOS’, which would integrate elements of iOS, tvOS, and watchOS. Unlike iPads, the HomeView is reported to lack an App Store, instead focusing on native applications such as Calendar, Camera, Apple Music, and FaceTime, alongside the ability to project widgets from nearby iPhones. The device may also utilize facial and voice recognition to provide personalized content for different family members. Additionally, Apple is expected to announce updates to the Apple TV and HomePod mini, alongside new smart home accessories developed in partnership with LG, including cameras, locks, and thermostats. In addition to the smart home lineup, Apple is expected to hold a second event around October 27 to unveil updates to its computing and tablet lines. This may include the first MacBook Pro models featuring OLED touchscreens, as well as updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros and iMacs equipped with M5 or M6 chips. An updated iPad mini with an OLED display is also anticipated during this late October window.
