Apple has released the Release Candidate (RC) versions of iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, and macOS 27.2, with a public release expected before the end of October. This update features an expansion of Siri AI to support five new languages: French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, and Korean. Despite this expansion, Siri AI remains unavailable to iPhone users within the 27 countries of the European Union. This restriction is attributed to the Digital Markets Act (DMA), a European regulation regarding digital markets. As a result, users in regions such as Canada or Switzerland may receive access to the new French-language Siri AI before users in France. Beyond Siri AI, iOS 27.2 introduces user profiles for the Apple TV app and Call Context anniversary reminders. macOS 27.2 includes new gesture recognition tools in specific applications. Following the iOS rollout, Apple released a second release candidate for watchOS 27.2. This update focuses on enhancing Siri AI capabilities, including the ability to retain context from previous interactions and access a broader range of personal data, such as Messages, photos, Calendar events, voicemails, and Safari history. The update also introduces an ‘Excluded Apps’ setting to manage data access for Siri, Search, and suggestions. Similar to the mobile updates, Siri AI features in watchOS 27.2 remain unavailable in the European Union and mainland China.
