The iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to launch with record-high entry prices due to rising component costs for displays and memory. Following the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro lineup and the new foldable iPhone Duo, Apple has implemented price increases for several older models, including the iPhone 17, iPhone 17e, iPhone Air, and iPhone 16. This deviates from the typical trend of lowering prices for older generations. In the United States, the iPhone 17 standard model is now priced at $899, while the iPhone 17e starts at $699 and the iPhone Air at $1,099. In Vietnam, prices for the iPhone 16, iPhone 17, iPhone 17e, and the ultra-thin iPhone Air have risen by 2 to 4 million VND per version, such as the iPhone 16 128GB increasing to 24.99 million VND. Additionally, Apple has removed the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max from its official online store in Vietnam, shifting their availability to authorized dealers and third-party retailers. These global hikes are attributed to a memory and storage supply crunch fueled by high demand from AI data centers. While the iPhone Duo aims to bridge the gap between smartphones and iPads, the standard iPhone 18 was notably absent from recent reveals, with rumors suggesting a potential delay until early 2027. Under the leadership of new CEO John Ternus, Apple is also reportedly planning a major design overhaul for the iPhone 20, which may feature a bezel-less display with curved glass.
