In late July 2026, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas indicated it would not block Apple Pay and noted that several local banks were preparing to support the service. Major Philippine banks added a “Supports Wallet” label to their app listings, signalling readiness for the upcoming launch. At that stage, Apple Pay was not yet listed among Apple’s officially supported markets and Filipino users could not add cards to the Wallet app. On 3 August 2026 2026, Apple Pay officially launched in the Philippines with UnionBank, GoTyme Bank, Metrobank Metrobank, and Chinabank. Users could add eligible Visa or Mastercard cards and make contact‑less contactless payments using iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad iPad, or Mac. Early adopters reported successful transactions at retailers such as Starbucks and 7‑Eleven, 7-Eleven, confirming in‑store in-store payments authorized via Face ID, Touch ID, passcode passcode, or watch authentication. The rollout uses a device‑specific device-specific account number and requires biometric or passcode verification for each transaction. Apple Pay can be used in physical stores, within apps apps, and on websites that accept the service. GoTyme Bank CEO Nate Clarke said the launch “gives our customers an easy and secure way to pay wherever they shop,” highlighting the expansion of Apple’s mobile‑payment mobile-payment ecosystem across Southeast Asia. Following the launch, GoTyme Bank became the first digital bank in the Philippines to enable Apple Pay, supported by issuer processor Paymentology. This integration allows GoTyme’s 10 million customers to add debit cards to Apple Wallet while continuing to earn rewards points. The service utilizes tokenization technology to ensure card numbers are not stored on devices or shared with merchants.
