Apple has released successive updates to its Safari Technology Preview for macOS Golden Gate and macOS Tahoe. Version 249 introduced various enhancements, including expanded CSS capabilities, new accessibility support, and updates to WebKit components such as Web Audio and WebRTC. Following this, version 250 was released, continuing the program’s cycle of frequent updates for developers and enthusiasts to test upcoming WebKit features and bug fixes, such as searching within video subtitles. This version also featured an updated icon and remains the recommended testing option over the less stable Nightly builds. Version 251 further expanded developer capabilities by introducing new CSS features, including support for the @supports at-rule, the object-view-box property, the random() function in custom properties, the corner-shape property, and the ident() and inherit() functions. This release also addressed technical accessibility issues, such as resolving SVG anchors without an href being exposed as links, alongside various layout bug fixes regarding text overflow, subgrid constraints, and background image repainting. Version 252 continues this cycle, providing a developer-focused build to test upcoming WebKit changes and new web platform APIs. This update includes new CSS support, specifically the named-feature() function in @supports conditions, the unprefixed user-select property, and percentage values in text-decoration-inset. Additionally, it addresses animation frame rate alignment and accessibility issues regarding list marker text in accessible names.
