Apple TV adapts Whitehead Harlem Trilogy

Apple TV has secured the rights to Colson Whitehead’s three‑book Harlem Trilogy—*Harlem Shuffle* (2021), *Crook Manifesto* (2023) and *Cool Machine* (2024)—and is moving the project into early development. The series will follow fictional furniture dealer Ray Carney as he navigates Harlem’s criminal underworld from the 1950s through the 1980s.

Screenwriters Graham Yost and Aric Avelino are attached to write the adaptation. Executive producers include Oscar‑winning director Barry Jenkins, producer Adele Romanski, Mark Ceryak, Melissa Bernstein, and Whitehead himself. The effort follows Whitehead’s earlier screen work, such as the 2021 miniseries *The Underground Railroad* and the film adaptation of *The Nickel Boys*.

The two snapshots, dated July 31 and August 2, 2026, confirm that the series remains in early development with the same creative team and production partners.
