The Arab Bureau of Education and the OECD initiated a regional dialogue in Riyadh to address student learning outcomes across the Gulf, Middle East, and North Africa regions. The discussions centered on utilizing PISA 2025 study results as tools to drive policy improvements in curricula, teacher performance, and digital learning. Following these discussions, the OECD recognized the Saudi Education and Training Evaluation Commission (ETEC) for its development of the Education and Training Status Room. This analytical model integrates diverse data sources and utilizes modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, to transform monitoring into predictive analysis. The system is designed to help educational leaders direct resources more effectively by comparing current performance against target levels. Building on these advancements, Saudi Arabia has launched a national model for teacher preparation and professional qualification. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical classroom application through a professional master’s degree in teaching, developed via a partnership between the National Institute for Educational Professional Development, Saudi universities, and relevant authorities. Furthermore, the ETEC’s AI-driven model for managing and analyzing educational data has gained international recognition. OECD officials have described the Saudi Education and Training Status Room as a ‘global model’ that other nations can utilize to develop their own educational capacities by converting large assessment datasets into intelligent indicators for data-driven decision-making.
