Respondents named England as the chief “hater” (27%) and placed Brazil sixth (7.1%). On July 30, Milei signed a decree to bar or expel foreigners expressing hate toward Argentines, a move that has raised concerns regarding freedom of expression and diplomatic relations. Beyond political rhetoric, reports indicate rising hostility toward Argentines in Spain, including instances of verbal and physical abuse. On August 19, Argentine Football Association (AFA) president Claudio Tapia addressed conspiracy theories suggesting players intentionally lost the match. Tapia denounced what he called a “miserable campaign” intended to “sow hatred, divide, and dirty the image” of the national team.
