Argentina is undergoing a defense modernization program, known as Peace Condor, to acquire 24 F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets from Denmark in a deal valued at US$300 million. The arrival ceremony was attended by Defense Minister Carlos Presti, Air Force Chief Brigadier Gustavo Valverde, Joint Staff Chief Marcelo Dalle Nogare, and U.S. Ambassador Peter Lamelas. Minister Presti noted that this second shipment represents a shift from “receiving mere platforms to building operational capacity within the 24 planned units now received. armed forces.” The remaining 12 aircraft are expected to arrive between 2027 and 2028, with the fleet intended for permanent stationing at the VI Air Brigade in Tandil to restore supersonic interception capabilities to the Argentine Air Force.
