In late July 2026, Argentine local authorities continued a wave of police equipment modernization. The city of Vicente López introduced hybrid-powered armored patrol cars equipped with cameras, microphones, radios, and beacons, linking them to an integrated security network that includes surveillance points and a monitoring centre. Mayor Soledad Martínez noted the upgrade is part of a system including the ‘Digital Ring’ and the ‘ESCUDO’ monitoring center, utilizing automatic hybrid technology to lower fuel consumption and emissions. In the Buenos Aires Province district of Luján, the ‘Luján Alerta 24’ public-security plan saw the delivery of four new Volkswagen Amarok patrol vans, attended by Governor Axel Kicillof and provincial Security Minister Javier Alonso. This brought the district’s total of recent patrol units to sixteen. By mid-August, Luján added two more Volkswagen Amarok units specifically designated for night patrols between 20:00 and 08:00 to increase preventive presence. Further expansion occurred in Lanús, where the government acquired 20 armored Jeep vehicles to establish a new Urban Ordering Patrol. This initiative includes a digital ring featuring 40 license plate readers, 10 strategic portals, 140 surveillance cameras, and 470 neighborhood alarms. The Lanús administration has also integrated training for 120 municipal police cadets and established a security and justice coordination table to combat crime. By late August, the ‘Luján Alerta 24’ plan expanded its community alarm network with the installation of ten new devices in sectors including Valle Verde, Lezica, Pueblo Nuevo, and Tala, with 21 additional units scheduled. This system utilizes a mobile application to trigger audible and visual signals. Additionally, in La Cumbre, nine new community alarms were activated in the town’s central ring in coordination with the Ministry of Security of the Province of Córdoba.
