Violent crime, organized theft, and gender-based violence continue to escalate across Argentina. Recent months have seen a surge in targeted killings and robberies, often linked to drug trafficking or personal disputes. In the Buenos Aires conurbation and surrounding provinces, gang-related violence has claimed several lives, including a 14-year-old girl in La Matanza during a drug-related shootout. Shootings have also targeted delivery riders, taxi drivers, and youths in cities like Rosario and Mar del Plata. Armed robberies of vehicles and personal items remain frequent, with notable incidents involving motorcycles and vans. Public transport has also been targeted by vandalism and stone-throwing attacks in Formosa and Chilecito. Femicides and gender-based violence remain a critical issue. Recent cases include a possible femicide-suicide in Santa Fe, the murder of a woman in a bag in Santa Fe, and the death of a woman found burned in Neuquén. In Morteros, Córdoba, a femicide followed by suicide was reported. More recently, A recent high-profile femicide occurred in the Villa Devoto neighborhood of Buenos Aires, a man where Walter Humberto Verón was arrested after for the murder of his partner, Romina Calvo. Forensic reports indicate Calvo suffered at least 40 stab wounds, many on her back and neck. The attack was witnessed by the couple’s eight-year-old daughter, who alerted her 21-year-old son reported that he brother. Verón, who had killed his 40-year-old mother. a prior criminal record for domestic violence against Calvo, reportedly left a note at the scene attempting to shift blame onto a numerologist before sustaining self-inflicted injuries. He remains hospitalized under police guard. Law enforcement has responded with numerous arrests. In Rosario, police recovered stolen vehicles, while in Canning, a man was arrested for targeting ride-share drivers. In San Francisco, an arrest was made in connection to domestic violence, and a suspect in San Juan was detained for violating parole. In Dolores, a 20-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stealing a bag from a 69-year-old woman, causing her injury during the struggle. Additionally, in Bahía Blanca, a 32-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of promoting the prostitution of her 18-year-old daughter.
