In July 2026 Vice President Victoria Villarruel hinted at a possible run for the 2027 presidential election. By early August, National Deputy Miguel Ángel Pichetto confirmed she would contest, noting she would do so outside the La Libertad Avanza bloc and appealing to a nationalist‑Catholic‑military electorate.
