The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a Class I recall for approximately 29,628 pounds of raw beef imported from Argentina. The recall was initiated because the shipment, distributed by Florida-based Corte Argentino USA LLC, bypassed mandatory federal import reinspection. The affected products were produced by Frigorífico Gorina SAIC between May 15 and May 20, 2026, and were distributed to retailers and distributors in Florida and Texas. Various cuts were included, such as Top Sirloin Butt, Eye Round, Topside Cap Off, Flat, and Knuckle. The products carry use or freeze-by dates between September 15 and September 20, 2026. While the FSIS classified the recall as a health hazard with a ‘reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death’, there have been no confirmed reports of illness or injury. This incident follows Argentine Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno has since clarified that the recall stems from an ‘administrative error by the importer’ rather than concerns regarding food safety, contamination, or product quality. The importer has reportedly issued a recent expansion of document assuming responsibility for the U.S. annual tariff-free oversight. Officials emphasized that the Argentine sanitary system remains intact and that beef import quota from Argentina exports to 100,000 tons. the United States continue to operate normally.
