Argentina continues to experience a complex economic landscape characterized by sector-specific volatility. While the automotive market showed signs of a monthly recovery in September 2026, with new vehicle registrations increasing 10.7% over August, the segment remains down double digits compared to the previous year. The used vehicle market has demonstrated notable strength, with approximately 170,000 transfers recorded in September. This represents a 9% to 10% increase over August, marking one of the strongest Septembers in over three decades. Volkswagen emerged as the leading brand in this segment, with the Volkswagen Gol being the most frequently transferred model. Industrial and manufacturing indicators show mixed results. The manufacturing sector reported a slight production increase of 0.9% in September, while exports grew by 14.7% compared to the previous month. However, the agricultural machinery sector has faced a downturn, as registrations for tractors and harvesters fell by more than 20% year-on-year, suggesting a stall in recovery for that niche. Regionally, Mendoza outperformed the national average, seeing an 8.5% increase in registrations despite the broader economic contraction. By October 2026, shifts in the most affordable vehicle rankings were observed. The JMEV Easy 3 remains the most economical option, with prices ranging between $25.1 million and $27.5 million pesos. The Hyundai HB20 and Renault Kwid follow, with prices starting near $28.5 million pesos. Additionally, the Suzuki Swift Hybrid entered the top ten most affordable vehicles, displacing the Fiat Argo. According to the Association of Automobile Dealers of the Argentine Republic (ACARA), recent data shows registrations reached 49,814 units, maintaining the 10.7% increase from August, though year-to-date registrations remain 13% lower than the previous year.
