Argentina is experiencing widespread educational and labor unrest driven by budget shortages and salary disputes. In mid-October, universities and teacher unions organized mass mobilizations and strikes to demand the implementation of the University Financing Law and the restoration of the National Teacher Incentive Fund (FONID). While a federal judge declared the government’s decree suspending the University Financing Law unconstitutional, the national government has appealed the ruling. Concurrently, labor tensions have escalated in the Neuquén province, where judicial workers have rejected salary proposals from the Superior Court of Justice, and the teachers’ union, ATEN, is negotiating for wage increases that exceed inflation. In the Buenos Aires province, the Asociación Judicial Bonaerense (AJB) has reached a resolution regarding salary disputes. The AJB accepted a proposal from the provincial government consisting of a 6% increase, divided into two 3% installments applied to the October and November payrolls. Depending on seniority, the accumulated increase through November will reach between 26% for subcategory F and 38.9% for category A1. The provincial administration has committed to reopening negotiations in December to address ongoing economic conditions.
