The Torneo Clausura has transitioned into its 12th round following significant shifts in the standings. Instituto de Córdoba remains the leader of Group A with 25 points after a 4-1 away victory against Independiente. Boca Juniors follows in fourth place with 20 points, maintaining a 17-match unbeaten streak. In a matchday 12 fixture at the Mario Alberto Kempes Stadium, Instituto and Boca Juniors played to a 2-2 draw. Instituto took the lead twice through goals from Fernando Alarcón and Jonathan Galván, while Boca Juniors responded with goals from Enner Valencia and Miguel Merentiel. Prior to the match, Boca coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena had announced a rotated lineup to preserve players for an upcoming Copa Sudamericana semifinal against Vasco da Gama. The match was overshadowed by a significant injury to Boca captain Leandro Paredes. After entering the game as a second-half substitute, Paredes was forced to leave the pitch after only 15 minutes due to a muscle injury. Medical examinations have confirmed a grade 2 tear in his right hamstring, which is expected to sideline him for several ~~matches.~~ weeks. Coach Arruabarrena indicated that Paredes is likely ruled out for the upcoming international fixtures, including the Copa Sudamericana semifinal series against Vasco da Gama, which is scheduled to begin ~~next Tuesday~~ on October 13 at La Bombonera. Arruabarrena expressed concern regarding the loss of his captain and leader ahead of these crucial fixtures. To address squad depth, Leonel Flores is expected to be available for selection following his return to training on October 7. The club will need to reorganize its midfield, with players such as Santiago Ascacíbar, Milton Delgado, and potentially Flores expected to play key roles in Paredes’ absence.
