Law enforcement agencies in Argentina are implementing various training and recruitment initiatives to strengthen their personnel. In Argentina’s oil region, police officers have undergone training on the use of Byrna less-lethal devices. In the La Pampa province, the Instituto Superior Policial has introduced an academic stage for applicants seeking to become Agents or Cadets to provide necessary professional tools. Additionally, in the Province of Buenos Aires, the Ministry of Security conducted cognitive evaluations for 447 applicants in the Esteban Echeverría district, testing logic, comprehension, and knowledge of police regulations. Expanding these efforts, the provincial police in Tierra del Fuego have opened pre-registrations for the 2027 academic cycle. Applicants can enroll in a three-year program at the ‘General José Francisco de San Martín’ Cadet School to become an Officer, or a nine-month program at the ‘Agente Ernesto Krund’ School to become an Agent. Requirements for these roles include Argentine citizenship, completed secondary education, and specific age limits ranging from 18 to 24 for officers and 18 to 28 for agents. In La Pampa, the recruitment process for 2027 careers has progressed to include academic tutoring sessions. Coordinated by the Instituto Superior Policial and the Subsecretaría de Formación of the Ministerio de Seguridad y Justicia, these sessions allow candidates to interact with teaching staff regarding study materials. While not mandatory, participation in these sessions provides additional points toward the academic evaluation. Topics covered include crime study, human rights, and public and citizen security.
