These legislative moves occur amid social tension, with demonstrators in Corrientes and Buenos Aires protesting insufficient funding for disability services and the rising cost of living. For family debt and delinquency, affecting approximately 6 million people, committees for Finance and Consumer Defense will hold informative meetings on September 15 and 22. The goal is to issue committee reports by September 29 or 30. The debate involves roughly 50 projects aimed at providing relief through mechanisms such as interest relief, debt refinancing, and stricter regulations on collection practices and fintech interest rates. While the opposition views the established schedule as a victory for social pressure, the officialist bloc maintains that any resulting measures “must not incur new fiscal costs.” Following the session, Karina Milei, Secretary General of the Presidency, visited Congress to meet with La Libertad Avanza legislators. On September 11, legislator Bernardo Biella, a signatory of the disability emergency extension project, stated that the legislative move forces the ruling administration to address these social issues directly.
