Argentine pension spending and adjustments

Reports regarding Argentine pension expenditures highlight different sectors of the social security system. In July, the state allocated over 203 million pesos via ANSES to pay 11 lifetime assignments for former presidents, vice presidents, and their relatives. These payments, which range from approximately 12 million to 26 million gross pesos per month, are significantly higher than the standard minimum pension.

Separately, municipal retirees and pensioners in the capital and affiliated municipalities were set to receive an 8.2% increase in benefits during the second half of the year under Decree No. 75.

By October 2026, ANSES announced a 1.66% increase in social benefits following the evolution of the Consumer Price Index (IPC). Under these adjustments, the minimum pension rose to approximately 435,748.51 pesos. For low-income retirees, an extraordinary bonus of 70,000 pesos may be applied, potentially bringing the total monthly payment to 505,748.51 pesos. This bonus is intended to be distributed on a sliding scale, where those receiving the minimum pension receive the full amount while higher earners are excluded. Other adjustments include the Universal Child Allowance (AUH) increasing to 156,588 pesos and the allowance for children with disabilities reaching 517,475 pesos. The maximum pension is set to reach 2,932,174.85 pesos.

Additionally, the Secretariat of Labor, Employment, and Social Security established a staggered increase for the minimum wage, rising to 391,200 pesos on October 1, 2026, with further increases scheduled through April 2027. The hourly rate for daily workers also increased to 1,956 pesos.
