The Argentine beverage industry continues to exhibit divergent trends between vermouth and wine exports. Following a historic peak in 2025, where vermouth exports exceeded $20 million and 7.7 million liters, the sector is actively transitioning toward a premiumization strategy. In 2026, this shift toward quality over quantity is evidenced by a 13.44% decline in vermouth export volumes, which resulted in a 13.17% increase in total value—rising from $5.62 million to $6.37 million for the period. This strategy has pushed the average export price to $3.86 per liter, particularly within the Mendoza region. Geographically, the market remains concentrated, with five countries—led by Russia, which accounted for 53% of 2025 value—representing approximately 90% of exports. In the broader wine sector, the first half of 2026 saw export volumes rise by 14% to 103 million liters. However, total revenue grew by only 2.6% to $319 million, constrained by a 10% decline in average export prices. This revenue gap is largely attributed to a 53% surge in bulk wine volumes, which experienced a 21% drop in average price per liter. Conversely, the bottled wine segment showed greater stability, with volumes increasing 2.4% and prices declining by only 1%. White wine shipments specifically saw a 47% increase in volume. During the first half of 2026, Argentina also strengthened its regional trade position with Brazil. Argentina became Brazil’s second-largest wine supplier, exporting 13.5 million liters valued at 39.9 million euros, marking a 14.5% increase in volume. While Chile remains the leading provider to the Brazilian market, Argentina’s growth aligns with a broader 9.1% increase in Brazilian wine imports.
