Aris Thessaloniki defender Fabiano Leismo suffered a thigh hematoma during a match against OFI Crete, making his availability for the upcoming derby against AEK Athens uncertain. This injury raised concerns regarding the club’s defensive depth, as the roster relied heavily on Leismo and Bosko Sutalo. Following a 5-0 defeat to AEK Athens, coach Michalis Gregoriou identified Leismo’s absence in central defense as a critical factor, stating that three of the five goals conceded were a direct result of the void left by the defender. Gregoriou also noted that a midfield substitution intended to refresh the team led to errors that conceded two additional goals. He indicated that the club may seek a substantive addition to the center-back position if the right player is found. To avoid aggravating the injury, club management and Gregoriou have decided not to address these risk the 34-year-old Brazilian defender in recent matches. While Leismo has begun running and shows improvement, he has not yet returned to full team training. The club is prioritizing his complete recovery to ensure he is ready for the derby against PAOK on September 13. He may potentially be included in the squad needs. for a Greek Cup match against Asteras Tripolis to gain rhythm, though he is not expected to start.
