Arizona man charged with White House bomb threats
Overview
Jacob Aaron Hicks, a 46-year-old resident of Tucson, Arizona, has been federally charged with transmitting interstate threats to cause injury. The investigation was initiated after a local television station received an email on September 23, 2026, warning of an “imminent bomb strike against the White House and other locations in Washington, D.C.”
Federal authorities, including the FBI and the U.S. Secret Service, discovered additional draft messages in Hicks’s email account containing similar threats directed at various news organizations. Further allegations indicate that Hicks sent a text message in early September threatening an anthrax attack in Tucson and a bombing at a federal building using C4 explosives. Although Hicks claimed he had loaned his phone to a homeless person when the emails were sent, investigators identified him as the source. Hicks appeared in federal court on October 8.
