ARN Media legal and financial disputes

ARN Media has experienced significant financial instability, reporting a $28.3 million net loss for the half-year period. This decline was driven by a 14 per cent drop in revenue and legal expenditures exceeding $17 million, which included a settlement with Kyle Sandilands following the cancellation of the ‘Kyle and Jackie O Show’. Consequently, the company has suspended dividends and is seeking to sell its Hong Kong-based outdoor advertising business, Cody.

The financial situation is compounded by ongoing litigation. Jacqueline ‘Jackie O’ Henderson is pursuing a major legal claim in the Federal Court, alleging that ARN Media misled the stock market regarding the termination of her contract. Henderson claims the company failed to disclose context regarding psychological damage she allegedly sustained due to bullying by Sandilands. While ARN maintains that Henderson had sworn the company to secrecy, Henderson is seeking approximately $51 million in damages. Sandilands has been subpoenaed to provide private communications as the trial is expected to proceed in October.
