In the Balya district of Balıkesir, the harvest of aronia berries has yielded positive results in the rural neighborhoods of Kayalar and Değirmendere. Local officials, including District Governor Murathan Cebeci and District Director of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Göçer, participated in harvest events to support the crop. Aronia, a fruit originally from North America, is being cultivated in the region to diversify agricultural production and provide new income sources for local producers through high value-added crops. Often referred to as a ‘superfruit’ due to its high antioxidant content, the fruit is utilized in various products such as juices, jams, and dried fruit. Local authorities and producers continue to celebrate the successful harvest of this antioxidant-rich fruit, which remains a key component of regional efforts to diversify agricultural output through the support of the District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.
