Aronia berry production is emerging as a high-value agricultural alternative in various Turkish regions. In the Ladik district of Samsun, individual farmers have transitioned from hobbyist interest to professional production, establishing plantations designed for both harvesting and customer-led picking experiences. This trend is expanding through female entrepreneurs in Samsun and Afyonkarahisar. In Yakakent, producers are planting thousands of saplings with the goal of establishing drying facilities for export. In Afyonkarahisar, production volumes are increasing as growers process the fruit into powder and vinegar to maximize economic returns. In the Bahçe district of Osmaniye, individual producers are also contributing to this growth. Necla Akdoğan, who planted 400 saplings across 2.5 decares of land in Örencik village, recently reported a harvest of approximately 400 to 450 kilograms. To maximize economic value, Akdoğan processes the berries into dried fruit, juice, and jam, selling her jam for 400 Turkish Lira per half kilogram. Agricultural officials attribute this shift toward medicinal and aromatic plants to high economic yields and rising consumer demand for healthy nutrition.
