The Government of Aruba is pursuing dual initiatives focused on crisis preparedness and environmental maintenance. To bolster disaster response, the government has collaborated with a delegation from the Netherlands to formulate recommendations for improving coordination and reaction capacity during unexpected scenarios. Simultaneously, the government is launching the second edition of ‘Dia Nacional pa Cuida Aruba’ (National Day to Care for Aruba). This community-driven campaign encourages citizens, businesses, and volunteers to participate in monthly cleaning activities. The initiative aims to foster shared responsibility for the island’s upkeep, including the maintenance of schools, sports fields, and community centers, with support from various public and private entities. In its second major campaign, the Cuida Aruba initiative, organized by CEDE Aruba, successfully collected 102 tons of waste across various locations. The operation involved coordination between government institutions and private entities, including the Bureau City Inspector (BCI), the Department of Public Works (DOW), and Serlimar Aruba. To improve logistical efficiency, organizers consolidated nearly 26 locations into six strategic areas for more effective container placement. Specialized teams conducted advanced cleaning in 13 specific areas, such as Palm Beach and Siribana, ahead of the National Cuida Aruba Day. CEDE Aruba plans to host the next edition on September 26, aiming to increase volunteer participation from schools and sports clubs to establish a permanent platform for environmental education and action.
