The government of Aruba has initiated several administrative, infrastructural, and healthcare reforms. Initial developments included urban revitalization projects in Oranjestad, specifically the design for Wilhelminastraat, and the digitalization of mental health and addiction care through external consultancy. Additionally, the government reorganized its administrative structure by integrating the Consumer Defense Service into the Directorate of Economic Affairs, Trade, and Industry. Following these reforms, the Parliament of Aruba began reviewing the 2026–2027 budget for the General Investment and Development Fund (AIOF). This fund, totaling nearly 59 million florins, introduces a structural change in public finance management by allowing unused funds to carry over to subsequent years. Planned investments cover road maintenance, housing, school renovations, and e-Government digitalization. Amidst these budget discussions, calls have been made to include elderly care as a strategic priority for public investment to address urgent needs in facility renovation and maintenance. Expanding on these infrastructural goals, Minister of Tourism, Transport, and Labor Wendrick Cicilia has announced new projects to boost tourism and community quality of life. In Seroe Colorado, a project costing nearly 3 million florin to pave 3.5 kilometers of road commenced in October 2026, with a fourth phase toward Baby Beach and Rodgers Beach planned for 2027. At Eagle Beach, reconstruction efforts scheduled for January 2027 will focus on roads, parking, pedestrian paths, and wheelchair accessibility, including a wall to protect white sand and turtles. Other initiatives include new accessible public restrooms in Casibari and Ayo, and a master plan for Zeewijk featuring kiosks, playgrounds, and picnic areas, expected by November 2026.
