In Arunachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Pema Khandu has highlighted significant economic and infrastructural progress, noting that the state's GSDP rose from approximately Rs 20,373 crore in 2016 to over Rs 50,651 crore. This growth is attributed to expanded connectivity projects, including the Sela Tunnel and the Trans Arunachal Highway. However, the state also faces political tension, as the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee protested being denied an appointment with Vice President C P Radhakrishnan to discuss issues such as frontier security and mega dam projects. Building on economic development goals, the state government is now focusing on agricultural expansion. At the ‘Hills to Cup’ Coffee Workshop, organized by the Coffee Board of India and the state's Agriculture Department, Chief Minister Khandu has called for the expansion of coffee cultivation to improve bean quality and grower income. He noted that while cultivation began in the state nearly fifty years ago, it has lacked sufficient awareness and promotion. Currently, approximately 600 hectares are under coffee cultivation in the state. To support this, address technical gaps and strengthen the value chain, a delegation of three-member delegation—including agriculture officials and forestry experts has the Chairman of the Arunachal Pradesh Forest Corporation—has been formed to study successful development cultivation models in Andhra Pradesh and other states states. The state government intends to develop specific policies to support growers and address entrepreneurs based on upcoming technical gaps in recommendations from the existing value chain.
