Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award 2026

Overview

The fifth edition of the Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award was held in Kochi, India, on 12 September 2026. The competition, which aims to recognize extraordinary contributions in nursing, saw over 134,000 registrations from 214 countries.

Agimol Pradeep, a Senior Transplant Coordinator at King’s College Hospital and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Salford in the United Kingdom, was named the winner of the 2026 award. Pradeep received a grand prize of USD 250,000 during the ceremony, which was attended by Kerala Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan and leadership from Aster DM Healthcare. The event also featured a message from World Health Organization Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who noted the award’s role in celebrating the global contributions of nurses.

Pradeep was recognized specifically for her work addressing the organ and stem-cell donation gap within South Asian communities. Through her initiative, Upahaar, she has registered more than 10,000 South Asian stem-cell donors since 2012. Her research indicated that low registration rates in these communities were often driven by misinformation, religious concerns, and social stigmas. Pradeep intends to use the prize money to fund nursing education and expand her donation initiatives.
